Copper Cylinders Vs Stainless Steel Hot Water Cylinders
Copper or Stainless Hot Water Cylinder?
When it comes to purchasing a hot water cylinders there are many factors to take into consideration.
What size tank, single or triple coil, remove from the hot press and of course copper or stainless?
One of the most common questions asked is which hot water cylinder is better, stainless or copper?
Joule supply both copper and stainless hot water cylinders manufactured as the UK’s leading hot water cylinders. Supplying a wide range of hot water cylinders allows Joule to meet any application requirements requested by customers.
Copper Hot Water Cylinders
Joule employs a unique cold feed diffuser that improves the cylinder efficiency by up to 10%. By allowing the hot and cold water to remain in layers up the cylinder based on the water temperature reduces mixing and keep hot water hotter.
A lot of energy is wasted in a standard copper cylinder by being over heated due to the lack of control coming from the boiler.
Our range of Joule copper cylinders come with a pre-fitted cylinder stat. Using one of our cylinder stats with a control valve on the boiler circuit keeps the cylinder at the required temperature reducing energy consumption on your boiler.
Joule’s range of copper cylinders come with industry leading insulation thickness levels. This further supports reduced heat loss and therefor reduced energy consumption on your boiler.
We supply our copper cylinders in grade 3 and grade 2 with various combinations of connections to suit individual requirements. Manufactured with twin coils, triple coils and our most popular indirect copper cylinder. Joule’s range of copper cylinders includes Combination tanks, Eco Solar tanks and Part L cylinders.
Stainless Steel Hot Water Cylinders
Joule supply a wide range of stainless steel hot water cylinders. The Cyclone range of hot water cylinders are Joule’s industry leading range.
The Cyclone range of un-vented hot water cylinders are built on quality and performance, with one of the widest ranges of models available.
The most obvious difference between a stainless hot water cylinder and a copper hot water cylinder is the material of which it’s constructed. There are a few different grades of stainless steel however Joule’s stainless hot water cylinders are constructed with Duplex.
Stainless steel hot water cylinders can take high pressures. Mains water pressure water ranges from 1-4 bar throughout Ireland. Before leaving the factory, the Cyclone range of hot water cylinders are tested to 9 bar.
If you have a high pressure or an un-vented hot water system, you must use stainless steel.
Joule’s range of Cyclone hot water cylinders use high recovery smooth tube coils for optimal performance. No other coil type on the market today offers the same transfer rate as smooth stainless tube.
Finding The Right Hot Water Cylinder For You
As you can see there are many benefits to both copper and stainless hot water cylinders. To determine which hot water cylinder is appropriate for you depends on your requirements.
