PHG Revolution 150 Charity Cycle Ride – riding for environmental change
PHG Plumbing Heating Group, the premier plumbing, heating & bathroom buying group for the UK hosted the PHG Revolution 150 Charity Cycle Ride at the beginning of October 2021 to raise vital funds for the Surfers Against Sewage and The Woodland Trust charities.
The event organised by Tour de Force took place across two days and covered 150 miles from Harrogate to Catterick Garrison, through the Yorkshire Dales and back again through the North Yorkshire Moors.
Over 70 riders from the plumbing, heating & bathroom sector took part in the event, including PHG Members and Suppliers. The PHG Revolution 150 Charity Cycle has successfully raised over £124,000.
PHG are delighted to be supporting the Surfers Against Sewage and The Woodland Trust charities to help the war on plastic pollution and the carbon crisis. Both charities were delighted with the incredible amount raised from the PHG Revolution 150 Charity Cycle and the significant impact this would have on their work going forward. The Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) is a marine conservation and campaigning charity inspiring, uniting and empowering communities to protect oceans, waves, beaches and wildlife. The Woodland Trust is the largest woodland conservation charity in the UK concerned with the creation, protection and restoration of native woodland heritage.
David Pochin, Chairman at PHG said: “This unique event in our sector brought together PHG members and Suppliers over two days to take on the challenge of the Yorkshire Dales and Moors and everything the weather could throw at them to raise money for two fantastic and very important charities. The determination shown by all the cyclists to complete the event was inspirational. PHG thanks everyone involved in making the event a huge success”.
John Smith, Managing Director, Plumco said: “The whole Plumco team were delighted to take part in such a unique event. Although it was a very tough ride, it was extremely rewarding. The camaraderie with all the riders, the PHG staff and the Tour de Force team was amazing. Not least of all, we did this wonderful bike ride and raised a lot of money for two very deserving charities – The Woodland Trust and Surfers Against Sewage, which ultimately was what the event was all about, PHG and its suppliers’ raising money for charity.”
Luke Pykett, Head of Brand Marketing, Ideal Heating said: “We are extremely proud to be one of the main sponsors of the PHG Rev150. Ideal Heating have been long term strategic partners of PHG and we jumped at the opportunity to support the charities involved. It was a challenging few days with fluctuating weather conditions that was made enjoyable by the camaraderie and spirit from everyone.”
